Phossil Project Class

Yesterday Art Clubbers and I worked on an advanced project including Phossil, producing this lovely landscape-looking piece. I think this is finally the last chapter of Phossil for me, for a while at least.

Nzeppel Twing

Daily meditation with the Art Raffle gave me Nzeppel, Twing and Toodles. I choose to use a tangleation called Nymph (Merlinda Barlow). Look at those trees on top of the Nzeppel hill, funny!!!

Feziii, Diva Dance and Fractalizing

Daily meditation with the Art Raffle gave me Feziii, Fractalize, Chainging and Scatter. Such fun to play with this odd string. Is it some kind of otherworldly landscape defying gravity? What’s happening here?

Bejeweled Hurry and Marasu

Daily meditation with the Art Raffle gave me 3 different strings. I figured: why not? I used Marasu, Peanuckle (both Zentangle), Bownus (Angie Gittles) and Bejeweled Hurry (my own tangleation of Hurry).

Phossil and Fancy Caps

These Zentangle tiles must be magic, whenever I feel there is no more room for anything else, somehow they manage to get more and more. Sheesh! Tangles are Phossil, Zentwining (Lynn Mead), a marine version of Mooka with some Fancy Caps and Opus.

When less loved becomes more loved: Zenith and Phossil

This one had a “less loved” start with Zenith and sat on my desk for a long time. Suddenly the thing just came to life with Phossil, Zentwining and some Fancy Caps! Now it's one of my favorites. Just to show, don't give up on your less loved tiles.

Purk and Spention

Bownus Bookmark Class

This last week Art Clubbers and I completed another very intricate project called Bownus Bookmark. This was an exercise in intricacy and using rounding/line-weight to improve and treat a tangled ZIA.

Fancy Caps

I'm in love with these Fancy Caps! I don’t know, however, if this picture qualifies as Zentangle. It's too figurative, too much like a landscape. I also love the frame, I've been using it a lot.

When too much detail is just too much

I decided to do this as an experiment: a complex string with overlapping arches combined with tons of different tangles and decorative borders. Whew!!! Sometimes I think there is such a thing as too much detail, it drove me a little insane to make this one.

Tangled Dragon again

My private Zentangle group asked me to revisit the Tangled Dragons, a lesson I taught over 5 years ago. Very interesting to see the comparison of the before and after. I feel the only difference is the really rich level of detail. I’m officially a tiny tangler. Such fun!

Balloon Park Part 2 Class

Last Thursday Art Clubbers and I completed Part 2 of the Balloon Park class, including Knightsbridge, Vega, Paradox, Rambles and Moon Pie, covering a variety of 3D shading techniques.
