When too much detail is just too much
Here's an interesting experiment. I decided to use a complex string (you can see how many different string sections there are) with overlapping arches and straight lines. Then, I also made each string section more complex on its own, adding multiple borders and tangles to each arch.
I think this proves that there can be such a thing as TOO much detail. I like the picture alright, but there was such variation in the work that it drove me a little crazy as I was making it! Here's a step-out for you to see:
The tangles that I can identify are: Vega, Mysealiam, Opus, Crescent Moon, Zander (all Zentangle), then also Oleasligero (Ariane Bauer), Elegan (BB Dream), and also Zentwining (Lynn Mead), some serrated Mooka in the round and I don't even know what else. Whew!
Here are a close-up for you to inspect:
I think I might go back to some “simpler” tiles…. A little more meditative and relaxing :-)
Feel free to pin or share these pictures.
The gorgeous Tree of Life video class is now available at my shop for individual purchase. This is a two part advanced video class.
I am always surprised at what comes out of my pen when drawing intuitive art. I don't think this classifies as Zentangle, but it was drawn in the same intuitive and unplanned manner, other than wanting to use a couple of fragments I had drawn on my recipe cards.
Today Art Clubbers and I worked on Part 2 of the lovely Tree of Life ZIA project. We worked on the frame, background and shading.
Last Thursday Art Clubbers and I worked on Part 1 of the lovely Tree of Life ZIA project. We created the line-art for the tree branches, leaves and flowers. In Part 2 we'll work on the frame, background and shading.
I think we are all a little in love with Tomàs Padro's new tangle Medusa. Here I'm posting two simple tiles where I explored the shading and different ways to construct the underlying ogee grid. I suspect Medusa is going to appear more in my work very soon!
I had a blast making these two pieces combining Wartz (Genevieve Crabe) with Sinkhole and Spherify! The Art Raffle gave me this difficult combination, but it was a fun experiment and I'm super happy with it.
Two pieces with Hollis over a triangular string, sprouting from a fancy triangular fragment. One of them also plays with 3D cuffs over Wyfore. Fun!
Last week Art Clubbers and I had a Tangle Play session including Wyfore - where we explore tangles and make index cards - and I decided to combine it with Drawings over a triangular string. Very fun to play with!
I’m still incredibly inspired by project pack 20. In these images I combined Drawings and Myseliam (and some other stuff too). Can't get enough of these Blossom tangles.
A few weeks ago one my friends suggested a “skyline” string over a mass of water. I used mooka3d, Alfie (Angie Gittles), Nik (Bunny Wright) and Dillo-tant (Lisa Goldman). I wonder if the buildings are emerging or submerging? :-)
