Elegan in the Round Live Online Session
Yesterday we had a fantastic (and long) online live session showing how to create the tangle Elegan (Tangle Dreams) in the round, that is, going in a circle, shading and coloring over a watercolor background. Participants were given instructions (and a short video) on how to prepare a watercolor background with a circle, to bring to class.
I started the session by explaining the issues of coloring with colored pencils, and comparing the differences between the colorful version and the straight black and white Elegan ribbon.
We then worked on designing the tangle in the round, and I showed how to create it so that there are no strange seams, so that it is more or less evenly spaced out.
We then spent some good amount of time showing how to shade and color Mooka in a 3-dimensional way, using colored pencils.
We even developed a white over black sunflower in the center, exploring some “Glow on dark” techniques of how to shade over black paper.
To finalize the picture, I showed participants how to create mini-gems all around and how to add a 3-dimensional border around the whole thing and how to shade it to look like bulging ribbons. Super fun!
Here are the pictures I finalized later:
And a close-up of the picture for you to inspect. We started this picture in class, and I finalized it later:
The class lasted about 2 hours (and after it was done we stayed chatting online for another 40 minutes at least). We had 30 participants and you see a peek of their work here:
I LOVE these online sessions!
Online live session are totally free for all participants of my Art Club. Learn more about Art Club here.
Two projects made during CZT After Hours sessions: one mandala with Suchitra and another a square tile with Diane Harpster. I'm loving these sessions: each week a different participant conducts a short 1 hours session.
