Elegan frame live session coming up

I got so many requests for a class on how to create the “Elegan” (Tangle Dream) frame I used on Romanancy, so that's what we are doing next. A live session this Friday, January 24th, for Art Clubbers only.

In this picture you can see how I used the tangle to create an ornate frame for two projects, one frames a simple rhinestone attached to paper with copper tape (more about this can be found in the lesson Metal Mandalas) and the other one shows the frame around a piece of Romanancy.

I had started this one by adding a bit of Phroz (Lynn Mead) to the center, but halfway through the design I changed my mind, so I CUT IT OUT with a sharp x-acto knife, and placed the frame over some burgundy paper with the stone attached. I LOVE this idea!

In the end, what seemed to be a mistake turned out to be a really useful tool: I can now use the frame to show examples during the class. A classic example of “no mistakes” in Zentangle. Love it!

In this upcoming class, I'll show you not only how to create the tangle itself (which should be fairly self-explanatory through Tangle Dream's video), but also how to make the tangle go around in a frame, learning to deal with the corners. We'll also cover hatching and shading of this very ornate pattern.

Here's a close-up of the frame again:

Live sessions are only available to members of my Art Club.
