Exploring Double and Triple Ratoon
I've been playing with the tangle Ratoon (Zentangle) like crazy, over Zendalas and regular tiles (which is also the topic of my next online lesson with my Art Club).
This one was made over regular white watercolor paper, cut to the size of a Zendala. I used a black pen to create a TRIPLE layer of Ratoon around a cluster of black pearls, all made with inking pen, including the heavy hatching. On the outsides, used the brown pen to add Opus (Zentangle) and shaded with colored pencils.
This other similar one was made on a tan Zendala using the same idea, black pen to create the line art of a double Ratoon surrounding a cluster of black pearls. However, I also added some Pokeleaf (Zentangle) and bejeweled Hurry (tangleation by Eni Oken). I then filled in the background with details Opus and shaded with gray markers and white charcoal, Renaissance style.
As usual, all my online live classes are available for all Art Clubbers. Video recordings are made available for those who cannot participate. Learn more here

Today Art Clubbers and I had Part 2 of the super advanced Bucky and Friends class where we added cracks, more line-art and also shaded the piece dramatically. Wow, what a great class, thank you to all who participated!
Today Art Clubbers and I had Part 1 of the super advanced Bucky and Friends class. We used Wyforwings, Bucky Fragment, Ratoon, also Patakon (OsBurSan) and Pickpocket (Tomas Padros). In Part 2 we'll cover more tangling, embellishing and shading!
Two Art Raffle tiles using tangle as a string. The first one used Ziraffe (Carla Jooren) and the second one Nacho (Carol Kis). They turned out quite dark, for some reason!
Playing with various different tangles: Bucky, Ratoon, Opus (all Zentangle), also a serrated version of Wyfore (original also by Zentangle). You also see Pellucidar and a ribbon version of Pickpocket (two last ones by Tomas Padros).
An interesting technique of how to add distress and a more organic, natural look through shaky lines.
This is my final tile after the class I taught yesterday on how to create double Ratoon.
Playing with double and triple Ratoon in preparation for my next live online class.
Last picture of what was a very turbulent decade. I sure hope the next decade brings us all a bit of peace and tranquility, and BEAUTIFUL, LOVELY art.
Last Wednesday I attended a CZT After Hours conducted by Heidi Froelich where she explored Ratoon (Zentangle). Of course I had to create another brown/sepia Journal Tile. I also included tangles Florz, Braze, Garlic Cloves (Jacquelien Bredenord) and Chrissie, a rather new tangle by Martina Ramhapp.
