Microtangling lesson now back again
I'm on a roll! Just managed to transition several older lessons to the new shop. I think I can, I think I can! This one is a long time favorite — I use Microtangling whenever I need to really destress.
“Microtangling” is simply creating very tiny, micro versions of your favorite tangles. We all know how beneficial repetition is, and microtangling increases the amount of repetition you are required to add to a surface.
There is more to the process of converting tangles to micro-tangles than simply reducing the scale, it's about making lines so close together than the result is a dense, thick tapestry.
The detail created by this process is exquisite — if you are a fan of intricacy, you will love this process. Additionally, these close lines force you to REALLY SLOW DOWN, breathe better and bring every stressed muscle to a relaxed state.
This probably my favorite of all techniques to reach Zen flow, that blissful moment where you forget and lose all track of time. You can do it in black and white too, and then you'll REALLY lose yourself completely in it.
The lesson shows two versions, one in black and white and one in color, with a watercolor background. The shading is delicately done with colored pencils. The highlights also benefit from using abundant sparkles in the line-art.
Speaking of Sparkles, that's one of the tangle enhancers covered in the lesson, how to create them and how they can create the illusion of a highlight, especially effective in this kind of dense drawing.
The other enhancer covered in the lesson are Echo lines. These very cool lines can create the greatest sensation of 3D, even without shading. Dense Echo lines work perfectly with Microtangling.
Here are some of the results of colorful microtangled pieces, you can see how intricate detail creates such a dense pattern.
You can find this lesson now, back again, at my lesson shop.
Another lesson is back into my shop, the very zenful Microtangling, helping you REALLY de-stress by creating a rich tapestry of lines.
