Digital Mandala Lesson
Last Wednesday I held a Digital Mandala using Procreate, in an online class on Zoom for my Art Clubbers. As usual, I recorded the lesson and as I was recording it, I realized HOW MUCH information we covered! That was really a lot in 3 hours!
We started the class by discussing the power of layers and using Procreate's “Assisted Drawing”, which makes the task of creating perfect symmetry a breeze. We worked on a sketch for the design first.
We then discussed color palettes, and how to create shapes for the mandala.
Next, we created some custom blend-mode brushes and I showed Clubbers how to adding shading and dimensional textures over each shape, including gorgeous rim-light and glowing effects.
We also discussed how to create beautiful highlights, gems and add extra flat details using other Procreate brushes.
We also covered overlapping decorative elements and how to fine-tune the design to form a super intricate and layered result.
And we also covered how to create a background that enhances the mandala to look like it's glowing.
Here's my final mandala that was started in class, I finished the center and added a couple more details. SOOOOO cool, love this effect.
We even cover layer management and how to troubleshoot and export the files. Whew!!!! The class lasted 3 hours and had 30 participants. A couple of participants said after class “I learned more in 3 hours than in 2 years using Procreate on my own”. A delight to a teacher's ears :-)
Last Saturday and Sunday I held my first weekend workshop on Digital Collage, packed with information. So exciting!
