The end of the year is here, and with it, the end of the Zentangle MatchMaking series. Yesterday Art Clubbers and I had the last session of this fantastic series. I did a brief recap on everything we learned and then we applied what we learned using Ancient Egypt (and other things) as inspiration.
Read MoreYesterday Art Clubbers started a brand new ongoing series called Tangle Combos. This series aims to explore how to manipulate tangle combinations including tangos, blends, grafts and more. All Clubbers get the entire series - it’s ongoing - even those who sign up now.
Read MoreSometimes inspiration comes from the most unusual places. Looking at a bunch of vegetables and fruit, I found myself extracting shapes and forms. This is a larger piece for me, it measures 5-1/2x5-1/2 inches (approximately 13x13cm), and that really makes a difference, it took a lot longer to complete.
Read MoreYesterday Art Clubbers and I finished the project called Star with Gold, and we developed two different types of stars inside the elaborate frames: one with Starukas (Zen-Linea) and one with Bejeweled Hurry.
Read MoreTriangles are prevalent on this striped string tile, along with some wavy curtains, some ribbons and other things. The only tangles I actually recognize are Arukas in the background and Opus in the triangle (both Zentangle). The rest are bits and pieces borrowed from my previous studies or pieces.
Read MoreToday Art Clubbers and I started a new project called Star with Gold, and we covered Part 1 of two different versions. Next week we’ll finish the stars! After all, it’s that time of the year :-)
Read MoreThis piece feels like it's part of a series started several months ago. Aside from Verve, Mysealiam and Spention, I also used several unnamed fragments found in some of photographs I took during trips and outings.
Read MoreHere is a mix between the “Small Treasures” project class I've been working with and the tangle Verve (JJ LaBarbera). I love the contrast between the two sides!
Read MoreYesterday Art Clubbers and I started completed the project called Small Treasures, using black and white encapsulated tangles and distressed tiles. A super fun project which shows the power that simple tangles can have when combined together.
Read MoreA few weeks ago one my friends suggested a “skyline” string over a mass of water. I used mooka3d, Alfie (Angie Gittles), Nik (Bunny Wright) and Dillo-tant (Lisa Goldman). I wonder if the buildings are emerging or submerging? :-)
Read MoreYesterday Art Clubbers and I started a new project called Small Treasures, using black and white tangling and distressed tiles. This uses the concept of Encapsulated Tangles (an enhancer of my own), where a tangle is represented by a few fragments and abundant use of Edgework to form a tight, 3D nugget.
Read MoreTwo weeks ago I got together with some friends and one of them suggested a string in the shape of intertwined vines. Tangles used were A-dalfa (Bunny Wright), Northshire (Jody Genovese), Finery and Meer (Zentangle) and Copino (my own). I love how 3D this turned out!
Read MoreThe stunning Wyfore Medallion video class is now available for individual purchase at my video shop. This is a 2:30 hour of video recording showing how to create this amazing medallion.
Read MoreHere’s another piece from the Zentangle MatchMaking class that I started with the Art Clubbers. This series includes Meer, Fife and Verve tangles over a combo Z-string and Square Medallion. I LOVE the movement caused by Verve!
Read MoreYet another session of Zentangle MatchMaking series. We covered the importance of working in a series and explored a method on how to work from a previous tile, using Meer, Fife, Verve tangles. This series is exclusively available for members of my Art Club.
Read MoreAbout 12 days ago I participated in a CZT After Hours session conducted by Rashim “Dolly” Bhargava where we developed a star and filled it in with tangles. The project was in color, but I went a little rogue an made a black and white interpretation using Betweed, Verve and Moon pie.
Read MoreAnother session of Zentangle MatchMaking series. We explored a great deal of pattern structure theory which can help tanglers to create better compositions during classic Zentangle sesssions. Meer, Fife and Verve were the tangles used in our session. This series is exclusively available for members of my Art Club.
Read MoreThis is the last picture from the Fall Tangles 2023 online event. This one was taught by the very lovely Kim VanZyll who used watercolors. Once again I decided to go with a black and white interpretation. Tangles used were: Yerba, Lunar Flux, Moonberry, Inafleur (all from Debbie New), also Wing Swirl (Susan Yeo).
Read MoreHere’s a monotangle using Verve (JJ LaBarbera) with many of the bells and whistles enhancements covered in my recent workshop Verve Timeline at Fall Tangle. I love the comparison with the “before and after”, really makes a huge difference. #vervetimeline
