Single Pen Hatching Part 3
Yesterday members of my Art Club and I had our third part of the Single Pen Hatching series, this time starting an actual tile.
We used the Art Raffle app to select the tangles: we got Ennies (Zentangle) and Toodles.
I love having a more complex string, because that offers more opportunities and unique situations for adding a tangle. In this case, we made Ennies turn the corner, a fun technique that can produce unusual results.
Next we got Toodles (Zentangle), and I showed Clubbers how to create a fun tangleation that is very organic looking, all made up with Echolines.
Finally we treated Toodles with delicate hatching to produce deep and dramatic shading. This is an advanced and time consuming technique that can take many hours. As you can see, the snippet below took us 2 hours to complete.
We are still not done, next week in Part 4 we'll complete the tile.
Feel free to pin or share these pictures if you like.
I had an incredibly fun time celebrating the Unity Tile anniversary with Julie Allison and Romi Marks.
