Phi Tile and Project Pack 11
Beauty. No other word can describe the golden ratio. Zentangle HQ just released what is arguably my favorite project pack ever. A new tile following golden ratio proportions along with the Markus Operandus II, which is a template to help finding Phi proportions.
I followed Project Pack 11 day 1 videos. A brief introduction about Fibonacci and the golden ratio, and a project using only Poke Root, elegantly wrapped along a pole. I couldn’t resist and used some other tangles (Mooka3D, Poke Leaf, Ravel) following more or less the structure I used in my Organic Borders lesson.
Here’s a progression:
Shaded simply with a pencil and nothing else, the result — to me — is pure elegance. Thank you Zentangle family for continually providing beautiful inspiration!

Today Art Clubbers and I had Part 1 of the super advanced Bucky and Friends class. We used Wyforwings, Bucky Fragment, Ratoon, also Patakon (OsBurSan) and Pickpocket (Tomas Padros). In Part 2 we'll cover more tangling, embellishing and shading!
Playing with various different tangles: Bucky, Ratoon, Opus (all Zentangle), also a serrated version of Wyfore (original also by Zentangle). You also see Pellucidar and a ribbon version of Pickpocket (two last ones by Tomas Padros).
Another bouquet with Paradisum (OsBurSan) and a ton of other tangles by Zentangle, over a Phi tile. The post also includes the card for "Bouquet String”.
My daily meditation today got Eofer (Iris Heidt), Diva Dance, Moon Pie, Bronx Cheer and Zinger. It looks like a bouquet of berries!
The S string is one of my favorites to use. In this daily meditation, I used the Art Raffle app and got some interesting tangles: Plezo, Effie, Paradisum and more.
I got a whole new batch of white Phi tiles. This daily meditation looks like a crazy landscape, with Aquafleur, Zander, Printemps, Shattuck and more.
I have the great honor of being one of the 6 instructors of Shie Naritomi’s Zentangle Beyond Language event (which opens today). My video class is called “Mirrored Garden” and I’m launching a brand new tangle named Copino!
I had a ton of fun with these Ogee Grid pieces over Phi tan tiles inspired by historic ottoman textiles. So much detail! Tangles are Moon Pie, Fluxecho and 123 O’leary.
Last Friday we concluded the Tangling with Brush Pens series. What an emotional and wonderful series this was!
Today Art Clubbers and I had Part 2 of the super advanced Bucky and Friends class where we added cracks, more line-art and also shaded the piece dramatically. Wow, what a great class, thank you to all who participated!
