Hollis Project Pack 07
I'm still playing with Hollis, the new tangle pattern by Zentangle founders Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas. After playing with the Hollis Tree, I tried my hand at the Project Pack 07 which explores their new gray tiles.
I have to confess when I received the packet of tiles, I thought the gray tiles were a little too light — compared to other gray papers that I have used before — but that changed yesterday. The paper is REALLY LOVELY. It's not as soft as their tan tiles, so it feels almost like their white tiles but with a touch of gray, which allows using white charcoal for highlights very vibrantly. Here's a little step-out of my piece using Hollis and Moon Pie along with Baton (Carole Ohl).
I used gold pen to apply Baton on the background and brown colored pencil to shade it in, so the result is almost as if it were a tan tile, but it really is gray. I like that contrast between the tan/gray and the blue of the tangles, such a pretty combination of colors. Here you can see the gold a little better:
And here you can see an ultra close-up of the piece. Super fun project!
Here's my contribution to the To You Tangle 2023 prologue, featuring a radial Pokeroot with funny feathered hats and a starry night inspired by tarot cards. Many thanks to many people who put time and effort organizing this beautiful event!
