Two Art Raffles

This weekend was a hard one: we marked the heavenly birthday of a dear mentor, friend and teacher who passed suddenly and unexpectedly last November 2020. I needed a LOT of tangling to deal with it! Art Raffle and black and white tangling to the rescue….

The first raffle I pulled out gave me these. I was determined to use whatever came up without any filtering or replacement. Deal with the consequences of what life brings to you.

Tangles used were Gourdgeous, Ibex, Drawings (Blossom), Verdigogh, all of them deconstructed by Zentangle. Also Narwal (Sam Taylor) and Waveweave (Sandra Strait). All these tangles over an off-centered radial string. Here's the before and after.

The second raffle pulled out this:

I wasn't quite sure about the diamond string since I had never used that one before, but it was interesting. Tangles used were Snail, Ahh (both Zentangle), also Boulder Builder (late Bunny Wright), Tour (by my super good friend Nancy Domnauer), Tilewave (Yuru Chen).

I didn't quite add as much edgework as I wanted to, but sneaked in some Echolines on the Tilewave. Really really enjoyed tangling with Tour much more than I anticipated.

As I look at this one now, it seems like it's a window into the dark night sky and I imagine our friend dancing in the heavens…. RIP dear teacher.
