Embellished Tangles Video Lesson

Embellishing tangles is one of my all time favorite activities: I simply love patterns that are dripping with details and intricacy. I feel that it adds so much to the result! Strictly speaking, I feel that all tangle patterns are a kind of embellishment, but what I'm talking about are little tiny details, the ones that are too small to have any visible geometry, which add so much detail to any picture.

In this lesson, I'll show you how you too can enrich your tangles with so much detail, you won't believe you created that drawing yourself.

The results are always fascinating to me and form a rich tapestry of detail. I wondered why more people don't add embellishment to their work, and I came to the following conclusions: 1) not everyone likes super intricate work like I do; 2) sometimes it can be difficult to shade 3-dimensionally when something is too embellished, and 3) it takes a LOOOOONG time to add embellishment. On the plus side, there is so much Zen flow to be had, and the results…

In this lesson, we'll cover the pros and cons of embellishing, and how to tackle shading so that you CAN embellish and have your cake too.

I'll show you different strategies on how to apply all these tiny details to your tangles. In a way, it's almost like “tangling inside a tangle”, but slightly different.

And because it's so much easier to not worry too much about shading when you're embellishing tangles, we'll also work on a project using opaque paint Posca marker, really perfect to create as a gift for a loved one.

Included in the lesson is the development of an embellished photograph, from beginning to end, with strategies on how to cover parts you want to hide, preserve what you like best and make a super fun photo gift.
