Pisa Duomo Ceiling and Cadent
On November 29 we had a great first “Virtual Art Tour”, a completely new type of live online class where participants and I take a tour to a historic place in the world through amazing technology.
For the Debut of the Virtual Art Tours, I took the Clubbers to one of the most well known historic sites on Earth: the Leaning Tower of Pisa. During that session we selected a site to draw based on my lesson Sketching Urban Detail. For this lesson, I picked the beautiful ceiling of the Pisa Duomo.
I completed two drawings inspired from that ceiling, the first one you can see here. This one is the second one, created using colored pencils (and watercolor colored pencils).
You can see from the step-out that I started inspired by the golden ceiling and later added Cadent (Zentangle) inspired by the latest Project Pack #7 released by Zentangle founders. Just love that puffy 3-dimensional look!
I really like the look of the brushed gold contrasting with the beautiful flowing and puffy Cadent. Here's a close-up for you to see:
These live online sessions are available entirely FREE for all members of Art Club, and so is the base lesson Sketching Urban Detail.
One of my favorite things to do while traveling is to extract urban details, and then use those details in a Zentangle Inspired piece. This one is from details extracted from the local church in Charlottetown, Canada during my recent trip.
