Color shading tangle "Elegan"
Spent such a happy afternoon yesterday playing with Elegan, a tangle by Tangle Dream. I was inspired by the prompts posted by Sandy Kelley-Jones and Linda Genaw at the Today's Tangles Facebook group. Who knew that I would enjoy this as much! I tried making it using different media:
First I tried a version in black and white, it was so much fun to embellish it with little hatching. Next, a bit of coloring with colored pencils over brown pen.
Next, I tried two different techniques to create a more involved colored versions, using markers, watercolors and colored pencils:
In the first version, I used a simple background with two colors of watercolor paint. I then chiseled and formed the shapes with colored pencils and white gel pen.
On the second one, I used green and blue brush markers to create a rough underpainting background, and sculpted and shaped with colored pencils. Which one do you like best? I like them both!
I had so much fun! If you enjoyed this and would like to see a lesson on how to apply colored shading or any other topic, email me here.
