Zentangle basics in 2018
Every once in a while, it's great to go back to the basics, especially at this time of the year. Everything seems to be starting new and fresh. So here's a "Zentangle101" tile, using the original Z string and the beginner's tangles recommended by Zentangle founders: Crescent Moon, Hollibaugh, Printemps and grid tangle Bales. Here are three variations, and it's so much fun to see how these tangles can be twisted and turned into tangleations.
The first two tiles were developed as part of my video lesson Zentangle Basics, while the third one was created as part of an exclusive bonus coming up for Art Club members. Here is the line-art for the third and more complex tile:

Now that the Zentangle MatchMaking series is over in the Art Club, we started a new series, focusing on Tangle Combos. This is the second session of the series, and since it's the beginning of the year, nothing more appropriate than using the classic 4 tangles used for a Back to Basics: Crescent Moon, Holibaugh, Printemps and Bales.
