Tangling on the Midway
During the time I spent with my family, we visited San Diego's Midway Aircraft carrier. It was really fun to have a change of scenery from my usual architectural sites. I was fascinated by what I found there: look at this INCREDIBLE real life Hollibaugh!!!
At one point I was really tired and sat down to rest. Of course, I had my little Zentangle Kit with me and things started to happen while I waited for the others to finish their tours. Once I got home I finished and painted the background.
Here are a couple of close-ups:
This is such fun: I made it the topic of my next class for my Art Club.
Feel free to pin or share these pictures!
Today Art Clubbers and I worked on Part 2 of the lovely Tree of Life ZIA project. We worked on the frame, background and shading.
Last Thursday Art Clubbers and I worked on Part 1 of the lovely Tree of Life ZIA project. We created the line-art for the tree branches, leaves and flowers. In Part 2 we'll work on the frame, background and shading.
I think we are all a little in love with Tomàs Padro's new tangle Medusa. Here I'm posting two simple tiles where I explored the shading and different ways to construct the underlying ogee grid. I suspect Medusa is going to appear more in my work very soon!
I had a blast making these two pieces combining Wartz (Genevieve Crabe) with Sinkhole and Spherify! The Art Raffle gave me this difficult combination, but it was a fun experiment and I'm super happy with it.
Two pieces with Hollis over a triangular string, sprouting from a fancy triangular fragment. One of them also plays with 3D cuffs over Wyfore. Fun!
Last week Art Clubbers and I had a Tangle Play session including Wyfore - where we explore tangles and make index cards - and I decided to combine it with Drawings over a triangular string. Very fun to play with!
I’m still incredibly inspired by project pack 20. In these images I combined Drawings and Myseliam (and some other stuff too). Can't get enough of these Blossom tangles.
A Tree of Life is a widely adopted symbol of knowledge and life. Here I used a twisted Diva Dance, Hollis, Moon Pie, Cat Kin (Lonetta) and Tree Leaf (Debbie New). What a great project!
The title of the post may sound strange, isn't all Zentangle intuitive? In this experiment I used a much more complex and intuitive string combined with a gray micron pen on two different pictures, with varied degrees of success. I came to an interesting conclusion, though.
The gorgeous Tree of Life video class is now available at my shop for individual purchase. This is a two part advanced video class.
