Tree of Life
I've been pretty obsessed with bejeweled Moon Pie lately, ever since the beginning of Zentangle's Project Pack 20 which covered Hollis and Moon Pie.
On top of that, last week I followed a very interesting session conducted by Lori Riden, she included Henna Drum (very close cousin to Moon Pie), which sparked even more my interest in that tangle. Lori also introduced me to a couple of tangles I did not know: Damsel Leaf (Annette Ruempler) and Cat Kin (Lonetta).
What was interesting about the session is that she provided only the tangle suggestions and asked us to choose the string and composition on our own, so each picture was very different from each other. I selected a Branch String (sometimes called a Vine String) to complete my project:
From the Branch string, it was an obvious choice to morph into a Tree of Life layout last weekend. A Tree of Life is a symbol adopted by different cultures and religions and is sometimes characterized by having many different leaves, fruit and flowers on the same tree. It is a symbol of knowledge and life. What a beautiful symbol!!!
Aside from Cat Kin and the Bejeweled Moon Pie, I also included a twisted Diva Dance, Mooka (Zentangle) and Tree Leaf (Debbie New). Here's a close-up of the final picture for you to see.
A class on how to create this gorgeous tree of life will soon be available to members of my Art Club.

The beautifully poetic class Duotone Tangling is now available in video format for individual purchase. This video class includes how to use a “landscape string” and how to create contrast using two inking pens of different colors. It also shows how to use grafting and how to organicize tangles to make them resemble plants.
