Bailarine Pop-up Part 1 and 2 Classes
The last two Thursdays Art Clubbers and I have been having fun making tangled Pop-ups - the LAST class of the Art Club before I go on my sabbatical: Bailarine Pop-up
In Part 1 we learned about V-folds, a type of mechanism used in Pop-up books and cards:
After showing a ton of examples, then we created a large panel using Bailarine (Eni Oken) and Tink (Carole Ohl):
In Part 2, we continued exploring V-folds, this time with attached features, created separately. This time we also added Toodles tangle (Zentangle):
In Part 3 next week, we’ll finish adding insert, this time attaching them to small parallel-folds (sometimes called muscles or layers):

This picture contains a small greek artifact found in the John Leighton’s Suggestion of Designs (1880). The design is described as being a Lotus or Lily, and I made it upside-down. I also included the beautiful braided tangle Gaut (Sandra Strait). Inktense pencils and Pitt Brush pens with a waterbrush.
