Shading Fearlessly Bundle

It was about high time that I put together all the instructional materials I have about shading Zentangle and offer it as a bundle. Enter the “Shading Fearlessly Bundle”, a collection of really GOOD tools to help you shade Zentangle 3-dimensionally.

The first and most important component of the bundle is the 42 page ebook, released a few years ago, it changes completely the way that you see shading, offering a number of strategies on how to shade Zentangle with a fixed light source. I know, I know, it's not the way that Zentangle is typically shaded, but I had too many requests to be ignored.

Next, three videos complete the bundle. The first one covers Tangled Shadows, and shows how to understand and draw shadows using a fixed source of light such as the sun. Although this is NOT the classic Zentangle method approach, I use that technique in my own work to create more realistic shadows by shaping shadows that are parallel to the rays of the imaginary sun.

The lesson also helps you to understand the differences between a traditional rendering and the flat-single plane approach taken by Zentangle, which has a single plane background instead of a ground/back planes.

In the Modeling Shading video, we discuss the various ingredients used in shading to create form curved and rounded surfaces.

The Modeling Shading portion also discusses the differences between curved surfaces and flat surfaces, and the techniques used to shade each one.

The lesson also discusses how to think about the line-art so that it is easier to shade in groups or individual shapes.

The third video of the bundle shows how to use different combinations of media — wet and dry — pencils, pens, watercolor pencils and markers, in a more technical approach to learn how to create smooth shading blends.

The lesson has practical exercises where the different media are tested over different types of papers.

All of this makes this bundle an incredible package to learn how to shade Zentangle 3-dimensionally! The bundle has a total of 2.5 hours of video instruction plus the 42-page ebook.
