Project Pack 23 Mandala
I’m still enjoying my explorations shading using only brown ink. This mandala is inspired by the tangles shown in Project Pack 23 (through day 9 only). It was a very interesting process to try to adapt whatever tangles came up each day into a complex mandala string which I had preprinted on 8x8 inch watercolor paper. It took me several days to complete, all shaded with sanguine FB Pitt brush pen.
Here’s a step-out:
The interesting thing was that I tried to create the mandala with a bit less symmetry, that is, some parts of the mandala are not perfectly mirrored. I’m not sure if I like the result or not, but it was a fun process. Here are some other closer views:
There was definitely some adapting required to fit certain tangles into the skinny areas of the mandala. This is one of the largest pieces I have ever tangled, the final piece more or less the size of an opus tile.

Looking back at some of my favorite things in my video classes. In this video class called Braided Divi, my favorite thing is how 3-D the tangle can be made by using edgework (and shading of course). The whole video class is about 40 minutes, comes with a video to ebook pdf and shows many other details like diva dance and wigwag. Get it at my shop enioken.teachable.com.
