Printers' Ornaments Class
Last Sunday Art Clubbers and I played with Printers’ Ornaments. I heard from more than one student that they were pretty terrified by the intricacy of the samples. But as usual, we went very gradually, step by step and tackled these pretty designs.
I started class by showing some samples and covering a little about the history of these Printers’ Ornaments, which started to appear around the 15th century.
We covered techniques on how to create mirrored designs and how to work S-shape scrolled vines.
We practiced with Fescu, Pokeleaf and Zinger variations (all three Zentangle tangles) and added embellishments.
In the 2:30 hour class we worked two samples over a watercolor background.
Look at all these great pictures that the Clubbers made!
Feel free to pin or share these pictures if you like.
Last Sunday Art Clubbers and I had a super fun class on how to create these pretty Printers’ Ornaments. We worked on two projects - such fun!
