Moonpie Betweed
Starting a new series of rectangular postcards in color. These seem similar to the Journal Tiles I’ve been making but they are actually made in a completely different way, tangling with inks using a waterbrush. This forces me to work extremely large, something quite unusual for me and yet here is still tons of room for tiny tangling and hatching.
Tangles used were Moonpie and Betweed, both Zentangle. Here’s a before and after shading:

I’m still enjoying making these mini needlepoints, I might use them as patches to embellish purses or totes. I’m finding the similarities with Zentangle fascinating: repetitive patterns, intuitive and meditative method (in this type of counted design), small size canvas, portability and unexpected results. Fun!
