Found Flowers
Tuesday morning I woke up, opened my eyes and a super cool idea beamed down into my mind. I immediately got up, sat at my desk and went to work. I'm fascinated with watercolor botanicals, but am completely incapable of reproducing any known flower accurately, let alone with such a fickle medium such as watercolors (my nemesis). So instead of chasing that idea, what if I LET the flowers find me instead?
Here's a super quick step out showing what happened next over my sloppy watercolor painting with a little help from my fine-liners and colored pencils.
I am SO HAPPY with this result! They actually look like flowers to me! This feels like such a cool win, and gave me such beautiful moments of zen flow, so relaxing. Here's another view of the final picture:
Here's a close-up for you to inspect:
I'll just have to try this again, stay tuned!
Feel free to pin these images.
Art Clubbers and I worked on the second part of the Found Flowers class creating a beautiful floral Zendala.
More found flowers over watercolors. The class for this style is starting soon!
I spent the US holiday weekend at a much needed remote retreat and found some lilies while I was at it.
I just had to try the found flowers again to see if the first one wasn't just a fluke!
As the end of the year approaches, my self-imposed deadline to add all lessons to the new shop is looming. 3D Grids is now back again in the new shop!
Every once in a while I like to take a break and try something different than drawing. A couple of weeks ago I watched a several videos on how to make crepe paper flowers and even made a few! It was a fun week! From dying the paper to shaping the petals and making the core, it was a fun activity. But don't worry, the fad didn't last too long and I’m back to tangling now., just didn't have the time to post these here.
