Faux Viking Knots Lesson is back!
This super fun and very successful lesson is now back and available to the general public as a video recording. Find the lesson here. The video shows how to use the tangles Yah and Jaysix dressed up as Viking/Romanesque knows found in Scandinavian Stave church portals.

Here you can see the similarities between my drawing and the Viking portal drawing (click on here to see source on Wikimedia Commons).
In this video you'll learn how to create these tangles in such a way that it makes the result look like a dense, complex knot — but without the headache of creating real knotwork.
The video also shows you how to embellish these faux knots using patterns and motifs typically found in real Viking knotwork.
And of course we couldn't forget shading, the video also shows how to shade dramatically to enhance even more the overlapping ribbons.
Feel free to pin or share these pictures if you like.
A group of friends pulled out an Art Raffle, and there were just too many tangles I love, I couldn't resist. The only change I made was the string, I used a Mirrored string instead of the original. Tangles were Kercott (Yuru Chen), Bilt (Lisa Skeen), Medusa (Tomas Padros), Ravel (Zentangle) and Freeform knots. I also added some Fishskirt for good measure.
