Channeling Winterland
White, Gold, Black and Blue. In today’s meditation I felt like using these colors, maybe I’m channeling Winterland. Perhaps I want this strange year to be over already.
I drew this over a blue piece of paper (watercolored first). Here’s a WIP and the final. I almost like the in between one a little better! I just might have to do this again.
I think this style shows great potential for end of year pieces. I’m not done exploring this just yet! Tangles used here were: Joki (Kim Aarts), Fracas, Ambler, Mooka, Ibex (all Zentangle) and Travel (Jody Genovese).
If you would like to see a class on this style, please send me your vote here.

Arukas (Zentangle) is one of those patterns I have a love/hate relationship. I love the way that it looks, but it I really don't like shading it, because it forms a sort of flat weave.
Celebrating the year that is gone and the one that is starting now. In retrospect, what happened in 2016 for me? Many things came to an end, and that opened doors for new beginnings. I closed for good my site Jewelrylessons.com, and moved away from West Los Angeles after living there for over 20 years.
Alien being, angel, underwater creature, who knows what this one is, and why it appeared on my tile!
Here is another picture from the new ebook Tangling with Gold. This is a technique I call "The Queen's Quilt", because it's so luxuriously busy and looks like a regal quilt.
This is one of the first projects from my new ebook Tangling with Gold, teaching how to use metallic pens and metallic watercolors.
Embellishing art with gold just has to be right up there with chocolate, on the scale of important things in life. Today I'm releasing a gorgeous new ebook on tangling with gold.
I’ve been channeling winterland, perhaps I want this strange year to be over. Gold, white and black over blue.
