Bucky with facets
While we were having so much fun with Jo Flaherty's technique, I didn't forget other challenges. This week at the Square One Purely Zentangle® facebook group the focus tangle was Bucky, by Zentangle, Inc., deconstructed here.
The first thing I like to do when learning a new pattern is to create my own recipe card. (By the way, now my recipe cards are looking so snazzy since I got my plastic templates from Jenny Perruzzi's store!).
I have to confess I didn't enjoy drawing Bucky at first. However, suddenly, a LIGHT came to me and I thought "this looks a kind of irregular faceted gemstone!"
Since we are playing with distressed markers at my own Facebook group, I decided to give it a shot, and create Bucky with facets.
I like it! I proceeded to create a whole bunch more, some more successful than others:
Here are some closeups:
I used distress ink markers to create the lines, and just barely wet them, very selectively, to keep some of the hatching intact.
Finished with gray marker bezels and white gel pen.
Not entirely realistic, but super fun!
