Tangling a-la-doodle
As we work our way through the Choosing Tangle Patterns ebook this entire month, it's really interesting to see the insights that people are discovering about themselves and their preferences. It's WONDERFUL to watch their own revelations!
One of my own personal preferences is to use only 3 or 4 tangles. I enjoy the repetition and the relaxing feeling of not having to think too much about what comes next.
With that in mind, I decided to create a challenge for myself and try to create a DOODLE with tangle patterns, using at least 8 or 10 tangles, repeating very little. Sort of emulating the Kawaii Doodles you see all over the internet which produce what looks like a pile of toys, but without the excessive sugary cuteness. Eeek!
Additionally, doodling uses no string -- some doodlers tend to sketch out their ideas in pencil beforehand, but I really did not want to do that.
And finally, another aspect of mainstream doodle art is the extreme contrast between dark and light.
It took me a moment to think how I would tackle this, without any underlying sketching or string to guide me.
I have to confess that once I had established a strategy, drawing this 4x4 inch picture was extremely fun! I think I might try it again!!!!
