Rainbow Shading Part 1 Lesson
Last Monday Art Clubbers and I had the first part of what is going to be a multi-part series class on how REALLY to dominate shading with colored pencils.
Shading Zentangle with colored pencils is not the same as simply coloring and that's one of the main objectives of this series.
I started the class by showing some examples and really trying to understand color variation:
Next we explored a little bit of color theory (just a little) with concepts such a hue, tint, shades, value and more.
Next we went into the meat of things, exploring 4 different levels of how to tacked color shading, using the color wheel as our guide.
Aside from 4 levels of color, we also started to introduce different shading configurations, which we will explore further in other parts of the series.
If you're interested in participating — there is still time. Part 1 will be available as a video recording to all participant Art Clubbers or those who join in the month of January 2021. Learn more about Art Club here.
Feel free to share or pin these pictures!
This is a picture that I created while aboard my last cruise crossing the Atlantic. Before crossing westbound we visited Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Tenerife Islands, and I captured some of the details of the beautiful Parish of St. Francisco de Asís. I have to confess that this picture feels a bit “too pink” for my taste!
