Registering Memories and Lollywimple
This was a crazy week -- I was heavily engrossed in writing and making videos. Guess what, it's not even February and I'm already falling behind on my Journal prompts! Serves me right for taking too much on.
The Our Tangle Lives group Week 2 prompt was Goals. Why did we decide to join the group? What do we plan to achieve?
My objective in joining this journaling group is simple, to register memories.
I have terrible memory. The older I get, the less I remember. I love creating abstract pictures, and to me they always contain a hidden message about how I was feeling, a new experience or something I learned. I feel these messages may not be so clear or obvious in the future, and I would like to register them more clearly so that I can look back and remember what was learned or experienced.
I took on this challenge group so that I can get in the habit of incorporating these quotes and messages, short and beautiful self-reminders.
Here is the progression for the line-art:
I used Echo Line tangling and Lollywimple, since this was the focus tangle of the Shading Zentangle facebook group. However, I didn't really check to see how lollywimple is created, and the dots ended up turning like ovals, making the tangle look a lot like Crescent Moon. Oh well.
I colored the piece using my beloved Neocolor watercolor crayons. Here you can see it in the "ugly stage", where things don't seem to go together:
And here it is again, now finalized with black and gold ink, and graphite pencil shading:
And finally, the picture in my 3-ring binder journal (you can get one of these journals here).
