Hamsix on Purple
Purple and gold: what could be more deliciously regal? Mixed with the wonderfully dimensional Hamsix tangle, deconstructed by Alena Light here, this was so much fun!
Ok, this was more than just fun -- it was also an experiment. I was keen on using blue and purple pens, but I was a little worried because I don't have a set of purple/blue markers to use for the shading. Here is the line art:
At first I tried to shade with my almost never used Derwent Inktense pencils. However, after 40 minutes patiently brushing with a water brush, I couldn't get the depth and boldness I wanted, as you can see here:
I think it's lovely, but not bold enough. So I took out my faithful Prismacolor pencils and shaded the hamsix as boldly as I wanted to:
Believe it or not, the background was colored in with a Sharpie, with Gold Gel pen printemps. That required some patience too!
