Glow on the Dark and Bijouisms

You might be wondering why my blog is so quiet these last 7 days! This is what I'm up to:

1) Finishing last touches on Glow on the Dark ebook:

A few people already gave me feedback on this one and they are raving! This ebook will cover my unique technique Glow on the Dark, which shows an amazing way to add dimensional shading over black tiles.

Black tiles receive very little treatment other than pure gel pen; I confess that until very recently I totally misjudged this fantastic medium.

Now with my newest ebook -- coming out in just a few days -- you'll be able to create glorious and luminous tangling without losing 3-D depth.

2) Playing with 2x2 Bijou tiles

Cataloging tangles is one of the fun aspects of Zentangle®; drawing stepouts and filing them in categories is almost as interesting to me as the actual tangling. I recently showed you my method of archiving tangles in recipe cards here, however, while I love my recipe cards, I don't feel that it encourages exploring using new tangles and free association.

I needed an index, something that could allow my mind to freely explore all tangles visually. I remembered someone created an index using 2x2 bijou tiles in coin-collecting pockets (if you know who it is, give me a shoutout!), but I wanted something a little more portable. I found this tiny 4x4 in. album with 2x2 in. pockets perfect for bijou tiles at beckyhiggins.com.

Isn't that the cutest thing!!!!!! A mini album with a simple index of tangles and fits in my purse. If I need to know more about the tangle I selected, I'll go into my recipe box and find the stepout.

Although I LOVE Zentangle® paper, I wanted to be able to cut 2x2 in. tiles on different types of paper, so I got this 2x2 round corner punch as well:

Here is another page of the album, I mixed it up with tiny Zentangle Bijouisms.

Speaking of Bijou, I never thought I'd enjoy working on such a tiny size! Aside from the index album, here is an experiment I made using Distress Ink pads over a bijou tile (thanks for the suggestion, Jo!):

These wonderful Ink pads come in various color combinations and are fantastic for creating tile background. I really like these results, I think I'll explore that more in the future.

I guess that's it for now, I'm off to add the last touches to the GOTD ebook!
