Garlic Cloves and Joki

Was talking to a friend today how important it is to go back to basics, every once in a while. 

I created the lineart for this picture about 6 months ago, but never got around to shading it. Joki (Kim Aarts), Garlic Cloves (Jacquelien Bredenoord), Hollibaugh, Crescent Moon and Sez (Zentangle). 

Today I had a huge chunk of time waiting for someone, and decided to really take my time at this one. I started by rounding the edges:

Then I took my time shading it with an F pencil, really just enjoying each step. I had no blending stump, so it was all one pencil, nothing else. WHAT FUN!

Here is another view for you. Somehow this one turned out different than my previous shading. I can't pin point what it is, the picture seems to have more contrast.
