Distress Inks... once more
And.... another one. I can't seem to get enough of tangling over these distressed tiles!
This tile I reserved for quite some time. You can learn how I prepared the background tile by downloading this free mini ebook here. Preparing Distress Tiles.
This is the final tile, after I colorized it. NO COLORED PENCILS! It was all done with pens, even the highlights. I'm just loving this technique, because the pens tend to have much smaller and delicate nibs than the colored pencils, so they allow finer work over the tiny 3.5x3.5 tile.
The tangles are: MI2 (Mimi Lempart), Connector (Jane Monk) and Umble (Zentangle). Also are included Gems, Echo Lines (Eni Oken) and another tangle that I have no idea the name -- the tubular one in the blue section. I THINK it's very similar to Zanholli by Sandra Strait, but give me a shoutout if you know another one that is more similar.
I used Distress ink pads to prepare the background, and distress ink and sharpies and gel pens to work the tangling. SO MUCH FUN! You can find some of my supply referrals here.
This technique is getting a lot of interest and now that I feel very confident with the right sequence, an ebook will be in the works soon. If you're interested in learning how to color with Distress Pens and Markers, contact me here.
Here is a close-up for you to inspect. There are NO colored pencil in this tile. Soooo excited about this, because I really love pens more than I love pencils.
