Alaura and Turquoise
Alaura is a beautiful spiral tangle first deconstructed by Diane Tai, inspired on the aloe plant. I got challenged to do a monotangle on it by Tasmin Rootman's Monotangle Adventures FB group.
This is my first shading test:
To make things a bit more challenging (why simplify, right?), I was testing my hand at drawing turquoise stones. I wanted to create very rustic crack stones, so I combined the turquoise with 4 interlocking Alaura spirals. Whew, what was I thinking!
Here's the final picture:
This stones were colored using colored pencils and markers; the Alaura was shaded roughly with markers, then fine-tuned with regular graphite pencil. What a trip this was!
