Wyfore Medallion Shading Class

Today Art Clubbers and I completed Part 2 of the beautiful Wyfore Medallion. Above you can see the line-art versus the final shading.

The first step was to understand the shading of the Wyfore/Bronx Cheer fragment:

After that, we went step by step shading the medallion until it became 3-dimensional.

Lots and lots of graphite!!!

The Clubbers did a stunning job!

I think we are all a little in love with Tomàs Padro's new tangle Medusa. Here I'm posting two simple tiles where I explored the shading and different ways to construct the underlying ogee grid. I suspect Medusa is going to appear more in my work very soon!

I had a blast making these two pieces combining Wartz (Genevieve Crabe) with Sinkhole and Spherify! The Art Raffle gave me this difficult combination, but it was a fun experiment and I'm super happy with it.
