Twisted Rope in Pink
Can't get enough of these twisted ropes, so fun to make (once you know the principle). Here's one with the same kind of treatment I used on Showgirl (see this post).
Here's the original string over a 3.5x3.5 inch square tile:
I wanted to create something super dense and compact, and have it contrast with bright color (inspired by the pink version posted by Tandika Star, thank you!).
This is the line-art for the twisted rope:
And here is the final piece, after shading, painting and coloring:
I shaded the rope using a single gray water-soluble marker (I like to use either Koi watercolor marker or Marvy's Le Plume). The background was painted with india ink and a a waterbrush. The final tint is applied with colored pencils.
In this close-up you can also see my signature Ribbon Aura, that is, a set of auras that is heavily decorated and shaded to look like soutache attached all around the main feature.
