Eni Dreams.... I mean, Any Dreams
Last September 2016 I went to went to Alaska on a cruise. It was as if I had entered some kind of dream world, the environment was surreal.
Inspired by the beauty surrounding me and the glaciers, I drew in my sketchbook. I didn't care what these drawings were, if they were Zentangle or what, I just knew it felt good to create them.
PART ZENTANGLE, PART ECHO LINES, PART DREAM
You can see the Zentangle influence. Zinger, Narwal, Arc Flower, Opus, Crescent Moon and even Zentwining peek and appear interspersed everywhere.
And yet, it doesn't feel quite like Zentangle. It doesn't feel like doodling aimlessly either. I called it Eni Dreams (a bit of a pun over "Any Dreams").
I confess I didn't want to show these pictures too soon. They are everywhere in my sketchbook.
And today while I started a new tile with WayBop (one of Zentangle's latest tangles), the dreams took appeared without any warning. Suddenly I was dreaming, the shapes coming out from the tip of the pen.
Before I knew it, it took hold of the entire tile. Echo lines, ribbons, tassels, Eni Dreams.
Shading is minimal. Zen flow comes from the swirls and ribbons, pure dream flow.
Where do they come from? What are they? I don't know. Just like dreams, they just appear and take me into the drawing.
Here is a page of my 3-ring binder with the last few pictures, incredible how each one has a completely different style.
I hope you enjoy dreaming with me.
