Crewel Flowers take 2

Still playing with Crewel Flower inspiration. This time I wanted to see if I could make one face frontal, which would mean a mirrored symmetry. I wasn't quite sure it was going to work as well as the previous ones which were drawn sideways.

Super fun technique, and now I have it down to a very good sequence. It's a mix of colored pencils and pens. I LOVE the super contrast of the auras of each petal, and the metallic gold dots all around it.

Here's a shot of my ongoing journal. I've always kept a creative journal -- I have decades of journaling -- but I was inspired to create a "3-ring-binder" type of journal by Jane Eileen, who runs a very fun Facebook group on Tangled Journals. For the last 2 years I've been adding the pictures I create in chronological order, and it's SUPER cool to see the evolution. I also add notes and comments to the back of each tile, so it's fun to pull out one or another and read about what I was doing or thinking at the time. Thanks Jane, for the inspiration!
