Ixorus in Blue with gems

A second stab at Ixorus, this tangle is just too much fun to play with. This time I wanted to do something almost monochromatic -- I have a few colored fineliner pens and wanted to see what could be done. Here you can see the original string with the work in progress:

As you can see, sometimes i try to follow the string perfectly, other times not. The beauty of a tangle which grows organically is that you can mold it however you like.

I have to confess, it was hard to shade the piece using colored pencils alone. The line art had a lot of parallel lines, and the pencil was coarse. The Gems were created using my alternative technique which uses no markers.
