For this week's Shading Zentangle® Facebook Challenge, we've selected my newly deconstructed tangle Jaysix. Since I had already come to the conclusion that Jaysix is more of a "filler" and not a "focus" tangle, I decided to combine it with Snail, which is the focus tangle for our friendly FB group Square One Purely Zentangle this week. Sometimes in Zentangle you can skip the string altogether and use a border tangle such as Snail to set the tone of the tile. Here is the final picture:
Here Snail is placed on a bed of Jaysix, which morphs into Ruutz. In this picture, I used several Depth Enhancers (things that make the picture look more 3Dimensional), such as rounding and pen width variation. I liked the line-art so much I almost considered not shading it!
Here is the line-art:
Pretty dramatic!!!! It's the diagonal line which gives it a strong and unified composition.
It looks so 3Dimensional when looking from the side like that, doesn't it??!!!! I LOVED making and appreciating this one, I hope you do to.
Here is the Mosaic for the Jaysix challenge on the Shading Zentangle Facebook group, isn't it gorgeous?
