The focus tangle of the week for the Shading Zentangle® Facebook Group is Pepper, (find the step out here). This sort of looks like a peppermint, but in my version it ended turning out a bit more like a striped donut.

Regardless, I'm really happy with the shading! Due to the nature of this tangle pattern -- there are no hard inked edges -- realism can be greatly increased (there are no edges in reality, it's all perception).

I went back to basics and use only ink and pencil (2H, HB) over paper.

Tangles used: Pepper, IX and Printemps. The string is just a series of swirls on the paper (you can still see some marks there).
