Sepia IX

Sepia IX

For the Shading Zentangle® Facebook group of this week, I selected the tangle IX, which is a really fun, wonderful overlapping tangle. My personal goal this week was to use a bit LESS shading, and perhaps add some sepia background.

Here is the line-art for the piece:

Although I used gray markers for shading, I applied them in a different order -- first the fine liner crevices. I felt this gave me a good basis as to where to shade without going too overboard like I usually do.

I also used Bisque and Orientale brownish copic markers to shade the sepia background.

Here is the final art:

Tangles: IX and Opus, with a Gem in the center. Black, gray and sepia fine-liners, copic markers, colored pencils.
